Elderly Care

The Elderly Care Division of CCA aims to provide support, company and entertainment to the elderly community in Durham. We achieve this mainly through our connections with two central care homes where we have regular volunteering activities which students can get involved with. From coffee mornings to poetry sessions to musical performances, there’s something for everyone. We also invite elderly guests to the Castle twice a year for an afternoon tea in collaboration with the charity ‘Age UK’.

As of this year, we are planning to provide Christmas care packages to members of the elderly which will require a team of students to organise and execute. This should be a really fun project!

" This is our chance to truly narrow the gap between Town and Gown, and genuinely once and for all put Durham Castle back in the heart of its community. "
