Environment Committee

Castle Environment Committee works to raise environmental awareness and self-awareness, looking for innovative initiatives to make college a more environmentally sustainable place for everyone. The Committee meets biweekly to discuss ongoing plans and new schemes. You will have the opportunity to bring your own proposals to meetings and work with peers to develop environmentally based projects and events. With exciting focus points during the year such as Pledge to The Veg vegetarian week, the Sustainable Fashion Show and various formals, there is something for everyone to get involved with. We work with Greenspace, the university’s environment department, to arrange Greenspace weeks and environmental events and campaigns within college as well as working independently on Castle specific projects.

A sub-division of the Environmental Committee is the Castle Allotment Committee which meets every week to take care of the college allotment: planting, weeding and hopefully growing some of our own vegetables!

If you are interested in getting involved or hearing any more about either of the committees, please get in contact with the Environment Officer

" This is our chance to truly narrow the gap between Town and Gown, and genuinely once and for all put Durham Castle back in the heart of its community. "
